Helmsdale River & Fishing

The village of Helmsdale rests at the mouth of one of Scotland's greatest salmon rivers, offering excellent fishing to visitors on the Club Waters. Permits are available on a daily or weekly basis. Trout fishing on the many local lochs attracts fishing enthusiasts from all over Europe most of whom return year after years.

Fishing from Balvallioch
There is the opportunity for some wonderful days of trout fishing while you're based at Balvallioch from 15th March until 6th October. Please contact us for further information on trout fishing.

For salmon fishing, the Association waters are open from 11th January until 30th September. There is some early Helmsdale fishing available on Suisgill rods as well.

River Helmsdale Association waters
It is usually possible to buy a daily ticket for the River Helmsdale at relatively short notice, but during June and July when the fishing is sometimes spectacular, it is probably better to book in advance as only eight tickets per day are issued.
