Driving to Helmsdale from the south, you will also pass two Co-ops, one Golspie and one in Brora, which offer a slightly wider selection. The closest big supermarkets are Tescos, one in Inverness to the south and Wick to the north.

For gifts, crafts and post cards try Strath Ullie Crafts, which is next to the Helmsdale Harbour and also acts as the Helmsdale visitor centre.

A. R. McLeod & Sons on Dunrobin Street in Helmsdale sell a wide variety of ironmongery goods. They also act as the local taxi company!

For antiques, try Gilbert’s Antiques on Dunrobin Street in Helmsdale, Loth Station Antiques signposted off the A9 about half way between Helmsdale and Brora, or Castle Close Antiques on Castle Street in Dornoch.
